Design and Fabrication Services of Bio-Fidelic Phantoms

CFDRC has extensive experience in creating bio-fidelic phantoms for experimental research. Phantom models can be instrumented with pressure sensors, accelerometers, microphones, and other instrumentation as necessary. All phantoms have been created from real anatomical image data, and corresponding geometry and mesh models are available as well. All models are created with greatest anatomical precision with 3D printing and molding technology.

Nasal Cavity Phantoms

  • Based on CT scans of 2,5,7,12,15, and 18 year old children with normal/healthy nasal anatomy
  • High precision, reconstructed from 300-500 CT images per model.
  • Detailed exterior nose, nasal cavity, turbinates, and sinuses (where available).
  • Both left and right nasal cavity are part of phantom (and connected).
  • Exterior nose and face are from skin-like soft material. Ideal for testing/fitting drug delivery devices. Exterior nose and face are available separately.
  • Models are cut at several locations for easy access and cleaning.
  • Available for several ages (2, 5, 7, 12, 15, and 18), other ages on request.
  • Mouth and lung openings can be created in phantoms.
  • Corresponding computational mesh and models are available.
  • Phantom models can be customized for specific applications.
  • Flexible faces are available separately for testing of biomedical devices.
